Transnatural Workspace – Amsterdam
15 / 09 / 2017 - 08 / 06 / 2018

The Robotanica exhibition series delves into the entry of robotics in nature. In this ‘new nature’, another remarkable wilderness is identified that includes technological and hybrid creatures. Are we witnessing a new evolution? Will animals threatened with extinction be replaced with technological substitutes to keep the ecosystem in balance?

Can the living conditions of bio-industry chickens be improved by means of Virtual Reality? Will cloud-makers deviate excessive UV radiation?

Robotanica opens on September 15th in Transnatural Workspace, will be on show during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, and ends with an outdoor exhibition in the Tolhuistuin park in spring 2018.

The participating artists, designers and scientists present projects that depict, effectuate or explore this shift within nature. The entanglement of technology with ecosystems can have on both a small and larger scale a positive influence on the Anthropocene – the period of time that is characteristic of the enormous impact of mankind on planet earth.

The exhibition is accompanied by a side program consisting of talks, performances and workshops organized in collaboration with (amongst others) EYE Film Museum.
