light bulb by jeff lieberman

light bulb is a levitating yet powered lightbulb. It will float stably in midair and remain on for years without any physical contact, charging, or batteries. Ironically, with the levitation and wireless power circuitry both on, this entire package still consumes less than half the power of an incandescent bulb.... READ MORE...

Cloud Core Scanner

Clouds, their formation and their substance, have long been a much-discussed topic in art and science. For artist Agnes Meyer-Brandis (Cologne, studies of mineralogy and sculpture), it was thus a unique opportunity to be invited by the German Aerospace Center to participate in one of its zero-g flights, which are primarily reserved for scientific purposes, and to work under conditions of temporary weightlessness on her art project Cloud Core Scanner.... Monsieur Morin: For A Complex Thought Ethic

To meet Monsieur Morin is not something to be taken lightly. Even those who do not know him could not but be fascinated by his old Frenchman-like elegant ways and his ringed fingers. And I believe in his success. The husky voice with which the Monsieur expresses himself, never as an intellectual but more like the chief of a tribe who tells myths and stories, immediately creates empathy and takes you into an intellectual dimension with layered dimensions: that of complex thought. And it is immediately clear that complex thought, in the presence of the old philosopher, is not just a mix of methods, an intellectual practice, but the exercising of an existential operation, a human opening that has this objective: to give itself a new founding ethic, the ethic that a planetary consciousness needs.... Nuclear Art & Radioactivity

Nuclear power is re-emerging as a concern for our times, both as a generator of energy and as part of a defence strategy. Today it seems to stand for the failed utopian promises of modernism and a fresh hope for a carbon-free future. The contradictions that lie at its core have provided a rich source of questioning for artists, scientists, ecologists and activists for many years. The Nuclear exhibition explores these intricacies through two new commissioned works by Chris Oakley and Simon Hollington & Kypros Kyprianou. ... READ MORE...

Stelarc’s Extrabody: The Technologic Chimera

Art concepts and techniques should always be avant-garde, and serve as an approach to men's comprehension as well as an anticipation of what they will be and how they will behave. In light of that assumption, Stelarc, who is a pioneer of extreme performances and of performances helped by interactive robotic systems and virtual reality, represents without a doubt an important reference point for all those who want to deal with an artistic project which uses technology as a means of expression....
