Marta De Menezes. Bio-Art System Analysis

Marta de Menezes has been working now for a decade with biological techniques and materials as her medium, and has often done so in collaboration with scientists, and in particular, with biologists. She is a phd candidate at the University of Leiden, and the artistic director at Ectopia, an experimental art lab in Lisbon. By recently employing the tools of analysis in systems biology to the field of art practice, de Menezes is taking a reflexive and immersive approach to art research. It's one that embraces complexity and could translate into a deeper understanding about the historical development and embedded structures of art and biology related exploration... READ MORE...

Manuel Vason. Performing With The Camera

Kunstradio And Stefano Perna. A Short Guide To Becoming-bat

A short guide to becoming-bat is a radio piece focusing on sounds produced by bats, some kind of FM-creatures, able to modulate a system of echoes and resonances that define a non-visual space, within which they fulfil their bodily functions. Immersed in complete darkness, bats build an undulatory space made of signals, of frequencies and amplitudes, 'a pulsating space that constantly changes, evolves, expands and contracts. Bats inhabit a radiophonic-world.... READ MORE...

Arte Bio-diversa.

READ MORE...

No Puns Intended. A Conversation With Filippo Minelli

A first acquaintance of the works of Filippo Minelli leads us - through the images and visions that he is proposing - to the common denominator that brings them either close together or far from each other, though always making them interact with each other: the watershed word / silence, is a mode of examination chosen to explore and create, not to attribute a meaning to existence.... Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler (Mischer'Traxler) design and develop collections of objects and conduct experimental research into design , by adopting a conceptual approach. None Stands For Us. The Occupation Of Teatro Valle

The Teatro Valle Occupato has drifted away from its initial route and is now heading to Piramide. It's about 6 PM of 10/15, and this is the Twittered message you can find following ashtag #15o, the personal and global reference point of this crazy day. I just escaped from two indiscriminate charges of the security forces (I should use the word guard, as it is better suitable for their manners, but I use the official term out of politeness), which, as usual, do not know and do not care to make any distinction between peaceful and not peaceful demonstrators... Anything I Love Goes Into My Brain. An Interview With Rafael Rozendaal

In the year 2000, Miltos Manetas published the famous Neen Manifesto in which he describes a new unidentified generation of artists who glorifies computers, artificially simulation and who use the web as their gallery. Two years later, Manetas and Peter Lunenfeld manifested the Neen concept in a spectacular 'hijacking' of the Whitney biennals domain name... READ MORE...
