By any media necessary. “Disturbances” by Critical Art Ensemble

Art, technology and activism explored by any media necessary. I am aware of few art projects that have undertaken a long, deep and challenging path through these three topics with an energy comparable to Critical Art Ensemble's (CAE). Perhaps it was worth waiting 25 years to finally see collected and organised the large amount of material, performances, writings and images produced by CAE. It is the ICA - Institute of Contemporary Arts to host the first presentation to the British audience of the latest sound work by the American artist. And, as usual, it does this definitely in style: not only by devoting an entire season of its excellent screenings, talks and performances programme to the various branches of sound practice in contemporary arts, but also realizing SOUNDWORKS: a collective exhibition that, at the same time, is a tribute to the American artist, a survey on present sound research and a sharing platform accessible to a large public.... Utah Data Center: what do you know about the new “Huge Brother”?

The small town of Bluffdale is located in the Utah desert, a few kilometers from the capital, Salt Lake City, very close to a remote valley, surrounded by Wasatch Range mountains to the east, and the Oquirrh to the west. It's inhabited by one of the largest communities of Mormons of the nation, the "Apostolic United Brethren", who took refuge there in the mid 1800's to put into action the principles of their faith: first of all polygamy. Today the community has more than 9,000 members.... READ MORE...
