24 - 26 SEPTEMBER 2008

PICNIC is Amsterdam’s leading annual international event, highlighting creativity and innovation, particularly in media, entertainment and technology. PICNIC brings together and disseminates the ideas and knowledge of the world’s best creators and innovators.

PICNIC ’08 focuses on bringing together inspiring, creative and innovative individuals. The PICNIC audience includes creatives, artists, scientists, designers, entrepreneurs, thinkers, lawyers, format developers, agencies, cross media content production creatives, advertisers, programmers, investor, writers, filmmakers, journalists, and technology-and service-providers from around the world.

PICNIC ’08 comprises a conference (PICNIC Conference), seminars with a strong focus (PICNIC Specials) and workshops (PICNIC Labs) and an international competition to identify the best green product or service, called the PICNIC Green Challenge:

– The PICNIC Conference is a high-level plenary meeting of bright, creative minds. The world’s best media entrepreneurs, thinkers and creators share their stories. The buzzing heart of the action, the conference attracts more than 1,500 delegates from all over the world for series of groundbreaking sessions.

– The PICNIC Specials are focussed seminars, lectures and round table discussions that dive deeper into the PICNIC themes. The Specials attract thousands of people, and actively involve media labs, research groups, professional associations, cultural networks, innovation departments and educational institutions to share their latest insights.

– The PICNIC Labs are practical workshops that challenge you to re-imagine your business, develop new products and services, refine ideas and formats and come up with creative business concepts. Products and services developed here will get feedback from experts, and a selection will be demonstrated at PICNIC

The PICNIC Club is this year’s central hub at PICNIC and will be the buzzing heart of the action. In the PICNIC Club you can take a tour and see the labs in action, do business in the Creative Business Lounge powered by the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce and on Friday, take part in the PICNIC Idea Machine.

PICNIC is organised under the direction of the Cross Media Week Foundation, which receives support from numerous companies and organisations as well as the City of Amsterdam and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Established by Bas Verhart (founder and CEO of Media Republic) and Marleen Stikker (founder and CEO, Waag Society), the foundation is charged with bringing the world’s top creative professionals together in Amsterdam to create new partnerships, opportunities and networks.
