For the first time, NYU Tisch School of the Arts has officially added The Art of the VJ to its roster. This hands-on workshop is a full introduction to the artform and dynamic world of the Video Jockey – a creative professional that creates a visual landscape to enhance concerts, night clubs, and theatrical performances.
Beginning October 13th, participants will learn how to create and design a live VJ performance using VJ software, behind-the-scenes techniques, and collaborate with other industry professionals including instructor and industry leader, Zarah Cabañas AKA vj Lady Firefly. The program is open to the public and requires registration.
The Art of the VJ is a one-day workshop offered on October 13, 20, 27 from 11:00AM to 6:00PM at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts (721 Broadway, New York 10003). The course fee is $595 for the one-day workshop. Interested participants can register at the link below.
Cabañas, a NYU Tisch alum and author of Respect Your VJ, has created visuals for music and entertainment powerhouses including Blue Man Group, Dave Chappelle, and The Roots.
She explains that she designed this VJ crash course specifically for anyone who is interested in live video performance and creating visuals in a musical and improvisational way. The course also shows how to integrate the practice into other forms of media artmaking and music.
