29 - 31 MARCH 2006

A silent revolution is taking place. More and more people are transforming themselves from media consumers to producers – using the new tools, software and technologies now at their disposal. From the expanding realm of free and open source software (FLOSS), to peer-to-peer (P2P) distribution and ‘pervasive’  mobile and locative technologies, the possibilities exist as never before to create and disseminate our opinions and experiences through our own media. TAKEAWAY, the Festival of do it your self Media, will help you to understand what it’s all about and how to take part in the revolution.

*Learn* – how to make your own mark in new media: create a blog, videolog or podcast; install and use free operating systems; learn about free software; explore new ways of distributing and developing your work.

*Talk *– to those who are making the tools and those who are finding new and innovative ways to use them.

*See *– exhibitions – including a selection of works which use these new softwares and technologies by students, alumni, staff, friends and associates of the Ravensbourne College MA Postgraduate Studies.

*Listen *– to lectures and panel discussions which will introduce concepts of Free Software, Open Source and the Peer-to-Peer approach in interactive design, learning and teaching.

*Discuss *– the implications of ‘free’ and P2P culture, changes in the way we create culture and art, and how we will be able to live, and learn, in the new media environment.

http://mazine.ws/ will be running workshops as part of this Festival. If you can get to the all or part of this exciting 3 day event come and find us in the café area to explore what we’re doing over a coffee.

MAzine will also be offering up-to-date online coverage as we have been throughout Node.London, so if you can’t be at the festival you’ll be able to get a sense of what’s going on and add your own comments.
