The 9th edition of the Mapping festival will take place in Geneva from May 2nd to 12th. 10 days of audiovisual experimentations and discoveries! The Mapping Festival is a multidisciplinary festival dedicated to audiovisual arts and digital cultures which offers audiovisual performances, installations, clubbing parties, live performances, architectural mapping, as well as workshops and conferences.
Thanks to this unique diversity aspect, the festival is recognised throughout the world as a major event, a real experimental meeting space, for creation and exchange with its innovative thinking in the field of audiovisual arts. Now in its ninth edition, the Mapping Festival has steadily grown and has become one of the leading events of its kind in Europe.
During 10 days, the heart of the Contemporary Art Building, Le Commun, will be converted into festival Headquarters, with art installations as well as our ticket office, a merchandising stand and a bar. In this context, you will be able to discover the dark poetry of Sougwen Chung, the hypnotic and heart-beating atmosphere of Nonotak, the colorful immersion of Squidsoup, the universe of graphics and sounds of Weng Nam Yap and the cloudy constellation of Sembilan Matahari.
Headquarters will also welcome “Combustion”, a smoky and electric performance from French artist RKO, the urban and immersive performance “Layers” from V-Atak label artist Nohista, the absurd and cartoonish “The 1000 people band” from duo Gangpol & Mit, and, last but not least, the eagerly awaited performance by Moritz Simon Geist and the MR808 robot.
Beyond the Contemporary Art Building, the Mapping festival will invade different other venues within Geneva, including the Kugler Foundry, where emblematic German label raster-noton will present new audiovisual lives from Grischa Lichtenberger, Kangding Ray, Robert Lippok teaming with Geneva artist Dimitri Delcourt, as well as the European Premiere of AtomTM ‘s newest creation.
The Kugler Foundry will also welcome Canadian trio Gulf Stream & VJ MA, ItaloVisual- Audio & Deviant Electronics Germans Edisonnoside & Daniel Schwarz and Geneva-based artist collective CENC for an incredible performance evening. And the Spoutnik cinema will host the duo Guillaume Marmin and Yi Ping Yang and the multinational collective European Souvenirs.
During the Museums Night, on Saturday May 11th, an impressive architectural projection will enlighten the Museum of Art and History of Geneva, thanks to the collaboration of Spanish artists from Onionlab and Hungarian Bordos. Artworks, who will come back to the Mapping festival after his amazing performance at last year’s edition. If the Mapping is concerned about your eyes, it doesn’t forget your ears, which will be spoiled, on Wednesday May 8th with the “Shogun Audio” night (featuring Icicle, Rockwell and Arno) and the “High Voltage” party (including Legowelt, Eli Verveine and Tomate & Mozzarella), Thursday May 9th with the night “Mind The Gap” (DJ Pete aka Substance, Alex Smoke’s new audiovisual night an DJ Dub), and “It’s a Bass Life” on Friday May 10th (Pangaea, Answer Code Request and TBC!). To end with a flourish, on Saturday May 11th, English legends Clark, Jon Hopkins and Baby Ford, Parisian artist Cabanne and local heroes Gelivan and Sonja Moonear will come and smash L’Usine for a sensational “Global Mapping “!
