MAGAZZINI GENERALI - CATANIA
23 - 24 JUNE 2006

FLOW.ER Festival – Flussi Sotterranei 2006 (Summer Festival ) – will take place on Friday 23th and Saturday 24th of June in the wonderful Mercati Generali club in Catania (Sicily – Italy).  A special event of the Sicilian summer for who’s loves to listen, dance and enjoy the electronic music and so on.

The Electronic Music Festival – Flow.er 2006, that last year boasted the participation of artists like Moodymann, Kevin Yost, and Andy Vaz, this year will be re-launching itself with a very ambitious line-up.

In the magic garden of  Mercati Generali will be performing the Danish artists Who Made Who together with the German Munk, to create an incredible showcase by famous Gomma Records; other artists performing on the stage will
also be: the godfather of acid jazz as well one of the most world known and respected DJ (popular today also for his BBC Radio 1 show “Wolrdwide”), Gilles Peterson; the Norwegian famous artist, Erlend Oye, one half and singer of the Kings Of Convenience, also famous for the collaboration with Royksopp, he will delight us with a special performance on decks and voice; the Irish artist Donnacha Costello, grown up with Aphex Twin, Brian Eno and Orbital, excellent in mixing music genres ranging from electronic, refined techno to European minimal techno; one of the most innovating and smart artists from the latest electronic scene, Jan Jelinek; one of the godfathers of the hypnotic electronic techno, Gez Varley, who together with Mark Bell (producer of ‘Depeche Modes’, Bjork, etc.) gave birth at the beginning of the 90’s, to the mythical LFO; the young English couple Goldie-Lox, very good in producing and mixing electro sound and phat beats with minimal tech and acid patterns, running their Salacious Records, among the most up and coming, original and fresh labels of the moment; plus the stars of the moment, the ‘very now’ Norwigian duo Lindstrom & Prins Thomas.

But at Flow.er – Flussi Sotterranei 2006 (Summer Festival) – we will also see in action Popolous, the Italian phenomenon who publishes albums for the Berlin label Morr Music; Miss Violetta Beauregarde, fascinating character, ex-Suicide Girl, destroyer of conventional instruments and just about to send out a new album produced by the important American label, Temporary Residence; the italian duo by Maurizio Martusciello and Nicola Catalano feat. z_e_l_l_e, a project dedicated to the French composer Luc Ferrari who died last year; Mario Masullo will be performing alongside Gez Varley the project named “Amblos Chapler”; the new Italian Kikko Solaris, Koom.h, Blatta&Inesha and Pola’s projects and the participation of Italian labels such as Persistencebit, Schema Records, Big Sur and Mantra.

Among the arty performances and installations, the project belonging to Filippo Leonardi, named ‘Collaborazioni Orizzontali’, characterised by his own, direct approach with locations and their sociocultural realities, from which he takes inspiration for the creation of his own works – the artist works often around what appears obvious, turning it up sidedown and taking it away from its original contest, starting this way processes of reflection.
